Doris is a laid-back bar nestled in a vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood along Fulton Street, offering a blend of relaxed indoor space and a roomy backyard that locals seem to appreciate for its calm atmosphere. The interior is thoughtfully designed with a cozy yet stylish vibe that suits solo visitors, casual groups, or couples looking for a quiet spot to unwind.

The drink selection stands out for those who enjoy craft beers and approachable cocktails. On tap, you’ll find a range of offerings including local IPAs like Catskill IPA and Half Acre Daisy Cutter Pale Ale, alongside lighter options such as Reissdorf Kölsch and Sloop Pilsner. For something different, the Backyard’s laid back feel pairs well with the bar’s spicier cocktail choices or a cold Red Stripe, while non-alcoholic options like Athletic Brewing’s beers and Yerba Mate soda provide variety for all tastes.

The food menu is minimal but thoughtfully focused, featuring comfort food staples like classic and Gruyere grilled cheese sandwiches—a solid choice if you want a bite without overcomplicating the experience. This setup suggests Doris is less about full meals and more about relaxed drinking with a modest snack.

Doris feels especially inviting on weeknights when the crowd tends toward dates or small groups, creating a chill, low-key atmosphere that's buzzing but not overwhelming. Early arrivals have the best chance of snagging a good table, whether inside or in the backyard, which serves as a highlight during warmer months when its spacious and tranquil environment shines.

Regulars seem to appreciate the staff’s laid-back style and the vibe boosted by a carefully curated soundtrack that often includes southwestern/cowboy vinyls, giving the space a distinctive personality. While the cocktails may not aim for extravagance, their straightforward nature complements the unpretentious setting.

Overall, Doris works well for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed evening drink away from louder nightlife scenes — especially local Brooklynites who value a thoughtfully casual bar with outdoor seating and a solid lineup of beers and simple bites.

Doris is such a quaint bar! They have a great drink menu, the backyard is absolutely lovely, and the interior is equally as nice. Fantastic place to fly solo, share with a date, or have a group hang, just get there early to snag a table!

I really liked the atmosphere here - beautiful interior design and a spacious backyard. Great spot for a low-key night or a date. The cocktails are okay but nothing super special. The bartenders were pretty friendly, except for that one time where one of the bartenders told us to "pipe down" because we were being loud in the backyard . Not sure how loud we were but i don't think it was above normal noise level lol

Finally made it over to Doris and it didn’t disappoint! I really enjoyed the southwestern/cowboy vinyls that were playing, alongside a spicy drink. Also, the backyard is spacious and tranquil.

Great spot for a date, almost everyone there on a Tuesday night seemed like they were on a date. Very relaxed and comfortable for a drink with a friend or two also. Good cocktails for a good price. Mostly full around 9pm which was fun on a weeknight. Limited food options so worth noting if you are coming on an empty stomach.

Great spot! I was lucky enough to find this place just bc it's right next to my Airbnb and I'm glad I did. Really great atmosphere at night and was a good spot to read and journal by myself on my first true night in New York
